BLACK TIE
Bespoke tuxedos, cut by hand in our Bangkok atelier
Black tie done properly: peak lapel or shawl collar, satin facings, and a clean line cut for your evening. Tailored by hand, and made light enough for the Bangkok heat.
Evening wear, cut for the occasion and the climate
Black tie should look effortless and fit faultlessly. We cut each tuxedo to your own measurements and posture in our Rama 4 atelier, then refine it at a fitting, so it sits clean through the shoulders and falls straight to the shoe. Made in lightweight cloths that look the part without wearing like armour in the Bangkok heat.

The details that make black tie
A peak lapel or shawl collar, faced in satin or grosgrain. A single covered or satin button, jetted pockets with no flaps, and a clean chest with nothing to distract from the line.
The trousers carry a satin braid down the outer seam, with side adjusters in place of belt loops and a clean break over the shoe. The details are quiet, but they are exactly what separates black tie from an ordinary dark suit.

Black, midnight blue, or a dinner jacket to remember
Choose classic black or a deep midnight blue, which reads richer than black under evening light, in barathea and high-twist wools, or a mohair blend that keeps a faint sheen and holds its press in the heat.
For something with more character, an ivory or white dinner jacket for tropical evenings, or a midnight velvet jacket for the festive season. Finish the look with a hand-cut dress shirt and the right accessories.

Black tie questions
What is the difference between a tuxedo and a regular suit?
A tuxedo is built for evening formality. The lapels are faced in satin or grosgrain, the buttons are covered or satin, the pockets are jetted (no flaps), and the trousers carry a satin braid down the outer seam with side adjusters instead of belt loops. The cut is cleaner and the details quieter. A bespoke tuxedo gets all of this made to your measurements, not approximated off a rack.
Black or midnight blue?
Both are correct. Midnight blue reads as a deeper, richer black under artificial light, which is where black tie is usually worn, and many consider it the more elegant choice. Classic black is timeless and never wrong. We will show you both cloths and help you decide.
Can you make a lightweight or white dinner jacket for a tropical event?
Yes. For Bangkok evenings and destination weddings we cut tuxedos in high-twist and mohair-blend cloths that stay cool and hold their press, and we make ivory and white dinner jackets, the warm-weather classic for black tie in the heat.
What shirt and accessories do I need with a tuxedo?
A proper black-tie shirt has a Marcella (pique) or pleated front, and is worn with studs and a bow tie, plus a cummerbund or an evening waistcoat. We make the bespoke dress shirt to match, and will guide you on lapel, collar and the finishing details so the whole look is right.
How long does a bespoke tuxedo take to make?
Allow a few weeks from first consultation to final fitting, the same considered process as a bespoke suit. For a wedding or a specific event, book ahead so there is time for fittings without a rush.
Can you make matching black tie for a wedding party or group?
Yes. We regularly make coordinated tuxedos and dinner jackets for grooms and groomsmen, cut individually to each person but matched in cloth and detailing. Talk to us early so we can plan fittings around the date.
